When it comes to hiring a VHS to DVD video transfer company, there many things to consider. Here are a few tips to help you with your decision making process…
Do they do good work/are they professional?
This one is pretty obvious, but this should be your first consideration when looking for a video transfer provider. Utilize online review sites such as Yelp, as well as social media to look for reviews of the company. They may also have testimonials on their website. Don’t be afraid to ask if they have any recent customers who they can put you into contact with too.
Will they look after your tapes?
This is very important. Your old tapes contain precious memories that cannot be replaced. Ask your potential provider where your tapes will be stored and who will be handling them. Also, ask if your tapes will be shipped out of province or overseas, as many providers do this and it increases the risk of lost or damaged tapes. Ask if they offer any kind of guarantee (we do!)
What is the cost?
As with any purchase, pricing is a big consideration. Get quotes from a few different providers and compare rates. As a general rule of thumb, don’t go with the cheapest or the most expensive option; go with a providers who’s price seems to be somewhere in the middle.
How long will it take?
This may not be too much of a concern depending upon what you plan to use your tapes for (are they a gift? etc.) However, if time is an issue, remember to ask beforehand.
